Recently there were uprisings in two countries, Tunisia and Egypt, also, an uprising is continuing in Libya. These uprisings all have the same purpose and that is to make their leaders resign. In Tunisia, the former president Zine El Abidine Bin Ali was ruling the country for twenty three years. The uprising in Tunisia ended on 14th January 2011 when Bin Ali ran away from country. In Egypt, Hosni Mubarek was the president for 30 years and the uprising didn’t come to an end until the 11th of February when Mubarek resigned. The uprising in Libya is still ongoing, the citizens are protesting against Gaddafi and he says that he will continue fighting with his citizens until he dies. What should he do? Should he fight with his own citizens, kill his own citizens so that he can stay as president or should he resign, so there won’t anymore killing? If any other person was in Gaddafi’s situation, what should that person do?
I believe that if a person was in Gaddafi’s situation, that person should resign because that leader is causing a problem, that’s why people are protesting against him. There is a reason for citizens of Libya protesting and that reason is their so called “leader.” A leader basically should be a person who works for the benefit of their country and does what the citizens want. Gaddafi is not doing that in the first place. People are protesting because they do not like how Gaddafi is ruling their country and they are taking some action to change the regime. What the citizens want is Gaddafi’s resign but he chooses to kill his own citizens. He should resign and if any other leader was in his position that person should resign as well. Mubarek resigned little more than 15 days after the protests have begun. Gaddafi should do what Mubarek did.
I also believe that using guns against people protesting would make the situation even worse. Think of it this way: People are against you, they are protesting you because they don’t approve the things you are doing and those things are affecting them badly. If you use gun power to kill these people, they would become more furious. They would rebel more and more furiou
sly. Also, the families of the people who were killed would join those protesting you. Using gun power would make the whole situation worse. If a leader uses gun power in an uprising, it would make the people want his resign more.
In conclusion, I believe that a leader was in Gaddafi’s situation, that person should resign from his duty as a leader because obviously, he can’t do his job. Resigning would make the citizens happy and also a lot people who are defending what they believe will not be killed.
