Both Swan and Selby were adamant about going to Oxford. They were both capable and their grades were adequate. However both had a financial problems. Their families’ income were not enough to afford Oxford.
There’s a scholarship called “Moritz-Heyman Scholars”. To be eligible for this scholarship your family’s income should be less than 16.000 pounds. This scholarship is important because Cambridge doesn’t have any other similar scholarships like this; they have one other scholarship which is for families whose incomes are less than 25.000 pounds a year.
Oxford Summer Program and the “Moritz-Heyman Scholars” are important for the university because they encourage students with different backgrounds and opportunities to apply for the university. People get a chance to see that money is not important, everyone can have the right to advance intellectually.
Swan applied to the Oxford Summer Program and then she applied to the university. Now she is a student at Oxford. She studies biomedical science and is an aspiring scientist with a hope for equal opportunities on the world.
