What do we understand when we say roofs? Big ugly ones which cover a building? Have you ever thought that you can do millions of things with roofs of your houses? One of those things is making your roof “green.” Green doesn’t mean that it is just colored green. It means that there are living plants on your roof! You can see these green roofs at most of the villages. These are very easy systems to put on a building.
A building can be built with this design or you can add this system on an existing building. A green roof can keep buildings cooler, save energy, and add beautiful and usable space. Also, chemicals like carbon dioxide and sulfur are taken directly by plants. Green roofs help to protect the building materials of the building and double its life. Those roofs also can reduce the sound heard from outside.
The most important part that I think about is this: green roofs installed on school buildings create wildlife for animals, plants and give the students an alive laboratory. This can help a lot of research projects for students. Another good part is most of materials for these roofs are recycling materials.
There are two types of these roofs; extensive and intensive. The difference between them is growth depth and price.
