The saga of trials for the 14-year old O.C., victim of serial rapes, has finished. The 14-year old who was raped in June 2012, had a trial against 34 suspects which included two police officers. 19 of the suspects were released after the court’s interim decision. The court was held in Sakarya Court for Serious Crimes. The suspects were released with the explanation that they were all under the age of 18 and that there was not enough evidence to accuse and imprison them.
When the trial was over, all the families of the accused men rushed to Sakarya to meet their kids.
The Ministry of Family and Social Policies objected to the decision of the court. Due to the objection, the 34 men were again arrested on August 31. Soon after, 14 of the 34 men were released. The two police officers who were also released were among those who escaped to another country.
