People who commit crimes are sent to jail. It is a natural rule which is applied in most countries. People may commit crimes, but they have lot of reasons to do so. Some of them are caused by vengence, and some of them enjoy commiting crimes, yet. All criminals are judged in the courts. According to the decision of the court, some of them are sent to jail some of them are released. The system of prisons works like that, but does the prison system reduce the number of crimes and work correctly? Does prison system works out correctly? Is prison system fair? The answers of these questions are important about prison systems attitude.
The most important thing about prison system is efficienty results. If the crime rate decreases, the system work in the right way, unless the system is not so successfull. In my opinion, efficient results depend on people’s mood while they commit the crime. For instance, a person who has an affair of honor, might continue commiting a crime after prison. But, a robber or drug dealer may regret their action and quit commiting crimes. So it is important to consider the type of crime.
The effects of prisons on people depends on each character. Some characters are full of revenge emotions. And these emotions can damage that person and their opponent. However, it also depends on the type of crime. For example, a rapist has the worst time in prison. Other prisoners target rapists, don’t give them foods or sometimes try to kill them. But a man who killed a person because of an affair of honor has a comfortable life in prison. If a prison makes people better, it is up to the type of crime type, public ethics and people’s mood.
The most arguable issue about the prison system is its fairness. It is about the courts. Courts work out differently in each country. Some countries’ courts are very slow, some of them are very fast. In Turkey, the courts’ decisions are often determined late. In Turkey, the courts are not fair. A killer may go free, but a person who did nothing can go to jail. It is also about who you are. If you are relative of a famous person or a governor, you are lucky. But if you are a civilian and are accusationed then life becomes harder for you. However, this situation does not always happen because there are also fair sentences. Nowadays, however, journalists are sentenced to go to jail because their writing contradicts the ideas of the governments in power.
In conclusion, the prison system is a controversial issue. Criminals do go to prisons. But the important thing is that the system works correctly, there have a positive effect on criminals, and they are. If those three factors are completed and work in a positive way, it is a nice thing for society.
