China is a populated country. In China , a family who will not obey the rule of one-child policy, will get punished. This policy is very important for China’s future. Because of its population (1 billion 295 million) people are having problems so goverment has enacted a law; ‘’One-child law’’. Every family has to have at most one child. Also, a family which has no child will get extra salary.
“In 1979, the Chinese government embarked on an ambitious program of market reform following the economic stagnation of the Cultural Revolution. At the time, China was home to a quarter of the world’s people, who were occupying just 7 percent of world’s arable land. thirds of the population were under the age of 30 years, and the baby boomers of the 1950s and 1960s were entering their reproductive years. The government saw strict population containment as essential to economic reform and to an improvement in living standards. So the one-child family policy was introduced.”
During the last thirty years, every family in general has strictly applied the rule. However, this rule is applied strictly in cities, not rural areas. Especially in the last few years, the application in the rural areas has turned into a gender differentiation. “Traditionally male children in rural areas are seen as to continue the family name of the parents,’’ which seems to be valuable. This is why female babies are often left to die.
New rules say that one boy is equal to one girl, which has driven all into state of panic. ‘’If I have twins what will I do. It’s a big problem. It’s too sad. “ says a pregnanat woman. ‘’Now that millions of sibling-less people in China are now young adults in or nearing their child-bearing years, a special provision allows millions of couples to have two children legally.’’ If a couple is composed of two people without siblings, then they may have two children of their own, thus preventing a dramatic decrease of population. New calculations are on the way.
