Do they live the same life?
These people are all living in the same city but with very different lives. Yes, this is ISTANBUL!
Only 10 kilometers can change a lot.
Does the difference increase as the distance increases?
Not necessarily….
HERE, the distance is 1500 km but the difference is inconsiderable. First photo shows a slum quarter in Istanbul and the second one is a photo of a village in Muş. They look similar, don’t they? We know Istanbul as a developed city. However this image looks like a village in eastern Turkey.
In Istanbul %35 of buildings are slum houses and %40 of citizens live in these slum houses…
Generally slum residents earn minimum wage, 600 -700 TL. But there are also people that earn lots of money every month. Of course this creates different life styles. They eat, consume, spend, wear, read, fight, love DİFFERENTLY. They do not have the same life standards.
Whether one likes it or not, it is interesting to note that Istanbul finds a way to reconcile all the incongruities and conflicts of humanity within its soul.
