First time AP exams were conducted at AÇI, creating anxiety and expectations both among students and teachers.

AÇI has been improving the chances of its students for college applications, even though the school received acceptances from the top universites around the world in both of its first two graduating classes. The school’s new attempt is to open AP courses on math, psychology, chemistry and physics.

May 7 was the first time an AP exam was conducted at school, for chemistry. The second day for AP exams was two days later, for math. The most crowded class, which is an AP math class, started the test at 8.30 am. After 5 hours, they were still in the class solving problems which they had been studying for a year. Altough the Turkish math curriculum is one of the hardest around the world, students believed they were not prepared for it. They had to stay in school for 7 more hours on Monday to study and prepare for the exam, which should be a hint for the school to consider giving pre-Ap courses.

Grade 9 and 10 students in the school are fearful for the next year. All the teachers and students in school are hoping they will pass the test to prove that AÇI can carry a load like this.
