To begin with a basic comparison of these two critical speeches we must take into hand their main subjects. In Aldous Huxley’s speech we see that even in the fear of communism and a “totalitarian regime” he embraces the outcome. “Due to the threat of overpopulation” he foresees a grim future for mankind. As for Kennedy instills his speech with optimism and challenges the grim future Aldous Huxley speaks of. “You can use atomic energy to blow yourself up if you wish”
Another comparison we can make is the fact that they both have a clear and distinct foresight of the future. Kennedy foreshadows a world where Berlin like all other democratic regimes are at the pinnacle of global politics, we can also see him stress this with his words “let them come to Berlin!” But Aldous Huxley sees media and totalitarian entities in control of the chaos we call society. In retrospect Aldous is viewing the misuse of media and technology whilst Kennedy is literally the media spectacle.
Another criticism we see Aldous Huxley make is the reality of American politics and technological advancement. “All that is needed is money and a candidate that can be coached into personality” is clear evidence that Aldous believes that American politics are purely esthetic rather than stern ideals and constitution. To sum up Aldous has a clear concept that true politics must have endurance and truth rather than phony media shows. As for Kennedy is embracing the idea of “Personality based Politician” products.
In conclusion both of these speeches lead listeners in to opposite corners , whilst Aldous Is raising awareness Kennedy is subduing the people of Berlin into a state of unawareness and fearlessness eventually leading to reckless behavior and uncertainty. Along with this the both criticize the fatal flaws in both Democracy and the Iron clenched Fist of Communism. “You are being persuaded under the point of decision and reason”…
