JFK’s speech is mainly for inspiration while Hurley talks more about the threat of the future. From these speeches we can reach to the conclusion that they have successfully seen the future of certain things like technology and propoganda while talking about certain elements which have no relavance anymore such as the Soviet Union itself and the use of the so called “Super Drugs”.
We see that Hurley has was indeed right about the misuse of media due to the fact that the Americans are using it for extreme amounts of propoganda. Another example of this would be China. They completely limit what can or can not be done. This includes the media. JFK is right about the fact that the West could not work with the Soviets in complete unity in any way whatsoever. Another aspect in which Huxley was right about is nuclear power. It is being used in such a way that it is a threat to world peace and is creating turmoil even as we speak. This can easily be seen in the article of CBS news named “The ticking clock of Iran’s nuclear threat”.
The main issue that they were wrong about is the advancement of technology. Technology has advanced in such a way in the last twenty years that nobody could have forseen the introduction of such new things. One main element is obviously the internet. The internet bypasses a lot of theories of Huxley due to the fact that you can get fast and neutral information about everything. If we think about this invention in Huxley’s case of “Bad people using technology for their own benefits”, we see that it simply does not work. This is because of the younger generation. We can easily see this from C.I.A.
From JFK’s speech and Huxley’s interview we can see that these people were great visionaries. However they have failed to predict the colapse of the Soviet Union, the grater advance of technology and the rise of communism throughout countries other then Russia such as China. Therefore even if that some of thier postulations are indeed true, not all of their ideas are correct.
