Bullying is a major problem in many schools that should be solved as fast as possible. Bullying affects the education and development of many children in our day. Bullied children really get hurt psychologically. Some children who are affected by bullying also tend to act the same way to others in school. This also affects the academic of the school performance negatively.
Bullying can be verbal insult and abuse aimed to demoralize and discourage the victim. Bullying can and is also done indirectly by spreading rumors. Another version of bullying is physical bullying. Many children get physically abused and hurt just like verbal bullying.
The two main reasons why children are bullied today are racial and sexual differences. Especially children who have different sexual choices than others are bullied the most. The bully acts this way because of lack of communication skills, lust for power, attempt to increase self confidence, anger towards the victim, wanting to control others, distrust and envy of another person’s qualities, having a poor role model.
Bullying also has serious results. Many children get hurt and in fact some even lose their lives. Even in the 21st century there are kids who die while getting bullied or kill themselves afterwards. For example on 20 October 2002 a young 15 year old student named Greg Doucette attending Notre Dame Secondary School hung himself because he could not stand getting bullied about his acne issues. He was found dead in his houses basement in the Heart Lake district of North Brampton, Toronto, Canada.
Bullying isn’t always between children in many cases adults have been seen to hurt children. For example, G.İ. a student of Muhittin Güzel Kılıç Lisesi was beaten by his teacher and the principal, he was hospitalized. To stop bullying in schools will secure the healthy growth of the future generations, who will not bully their mates in their businesses or in politics either.
