In the past few years, the numbers of hate crimes’ and violent attacks to migrants and minorities have increased, and still they are. Most of this savagery attacks are related to racism, anti-Semitism, antiziganism, Islamophobia, xenophobia and homophobia. Even though people are aware of this hatred, nobody speaks about it; except for the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. They do not have the power of the society, so all they can do is to count the deaths and abuses about it, present it to the public and wait until people rise because of this.
Xenophobia is the fear of or antipathy towards foreigners. Sometimes people take the mentality of xenophobia as fear of losing or threatened the culture of your own. One of the reasons of losing the culture is seeing the climbing numbers of immigrants which come to your country. When people cannot legally banish the immigrants which are allowed by the government, they find the way on discriminating (because of their religion, beliefs, looks, etc.) and attacking them. For example; Black Africans have been stabbed or beaten to death; Roman groups targeted in mob violence; Jews physically attacked; synagogues and cemeteries vandalized. Muslims have been assaulted, and their mosques and Islamic schools damaged.
Physical attacks on individuals from minority groups are often perpetrated in communities. A great number of offences are never reported to the police. However, available data suggest that hate crimes continue as usual, without anybodies movement until it finds them, too. The interesting part of this is political candidates are not interested in this problem. The new president of Front National, Marie Le Penn insulted Muslims who live in France -In some cities Muslims pray on the sidewalk due to a lack of mosques in the country, she likens them to invaders, which do not have tanks or guns and Nazi’s. She says that such a situation like this is disturbing the people around- in her election propaganda work. Before the public or the media the government has to take action, because nations should not forget that they are taking migrants to raise their economy from the easiest way and to use cheap labor.
Thilo Sarrazin, a member of the board of the Bundesbank (Germany’s central bank), published a book called Deutschland schafft sich ab: Wie wir unser Land aufs Spiel setzen (Germany eradicates itself: How we’re putting our country at risk). This book was criticized by many politicians as containing racist remarks against Jews, Turks and Arabs. Some quotes are: “I don’t want the country of my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be largely Muslim, or that Turkish or Arabic will be spoken in large areas, that women will wear headscarves and the daily rhythm is set by the call of the muezzin. If I want to experience that, I can just take a vacation in the Orient.” Sarrazin was forced to resign from the Bundesbank board at the end of September, because of publishing the book and the criticisms. However, his book has been extremely popular, and it is going into additional printings. While still he was at Bundesbank, he received thousands of calls, letters and e-mails, and he explained, “It’s 99 percent support and letters of congratulation.”. Many people are becoming alarmed that people in the German mainstream are returning to the xenophobia of the 1930’s of Nazis. Most of the people want to send foreigners back to their home to avoid the danger of German being overrun. The idea of this comes from the government and the education system of Germany. Germans and most of the Christians characterized Islam as evil. Sometimes people’s hate comes even the point of burning the neighborhoods of Turks.
The survivors of World War II saw how 1930’s xenophobia led to wars of destruction. Xenophobia starts a rapid growth around the world since the 1930’s. The path to world war is becoming clearer and clearer. If governments cannot do anything parents and schools should pass beyond this trouble by teaching children that looks and religion should be treated like everybodies own gene, and it should not be taught as it’s different from anyone else.
