If you were in your senior year of high school, what would you have liked to study in university?
My thoughts have changed over time, parallel to how the world has changed over time. What will the next couple of years bring us, what will they take away from us? There are both good things and bad things. For the next 40 years, the world’s population will grow by 2 billion more people. With the systematic increase of people, our resources like water, will continue to decrease. But the scientific knowledge and discoveries are increasing incrementally as well. If we were to compare the modern world with the one of a 100 years ago, we can see just how far we have come. That’s why being a researcher is so important. To research, to learn something new and to keep on pondering about them. Science is the core of everything. To answer your question, a person can’t know what they’re going to study, if they are not in touch with their own capacity and skills. Not more, not less. Obviously, wanting more is good and we should always have high expectations, but we should keep them realistic and reachable. There’s only no limit to learning. We should always strive to learn more.
