This interview has been conducted by two artists, not only well known for their individual successes but also for their ability to produce so much at such a young age.
Eyşan Özhim, born in İzmir in 1970, was elected 2nd Miss Turkey in the 1990 beauty contest, has graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, has continued on as Communications Manager of Altınyıldız, Network and Fabrika brands. She has been acting and producing since. Roles in films and clips such as ‘’Başka Semtin Çocukları’’, ‘’Kutsal Damacana’’ and ‘’Psikoloji of Metin Arolat’’ have become her trademark.
Aydın Bulut, has graduated from Galatasaray Lisesi and Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Cinema and Television. He has worked with great directors such as Lütfi Akad, Duygu Sağıroğlu. He has written the script and also directed his first film ‘’Çiçek’’ in 1994. His debut as a successful director was with ‘’Sultan Makamı’’, continued by several most popular series such as ‘’Ihlamurlar Altında’’ ve ‘’Dila Hanım’’. Apart from directing films and series, he is involved in script writing and production of films and documentaries. He has several important awards such as Best Young Talent Award in 45th Antalya Altın Portakal, Merit Award at İFSAK, 2nd Best Award in İstanbul International Short Films.
It is interesting to note that the two are married.

- You are married to each other, you wrote the script, you directed it, you played in it. Are you obsessed with this topic?
When I met our director Aydın Bulut in 2005, he told me he had two films in mind which he wanted to realize. We were first able to shoot The Children of Another Area (Başka Semtin Çocukları) in 2008. At the same time, we continued preparing for Beşiktaş film. In this film we tried to break the prejudice that football belongs only to the man’s world. That is why we put a mother and her daughter at the center of the story. That is to say, we wrote the scenario together with the director. As I had experience in producing before, I became the producer of this film.
- Are you a Beşiktaş fan? Why Beşiktaş?
He was born in Beşiktaş periphery, and grew up with Çarşı. I have also not missed one single game of Beşiktaş since 2005 as I watch it with Aydın. We have distilled all the research and information we gathered over the years for this film.
- Who is this film for? What would you like to change in the lives of the viewers?
There are many special details that are being told in this film. For example, there is Neyzen Tevfik, who symbolizes the spirit of Çarşı. If those who do not know him, start researching him, many lives can change. What’s more he has dyslexia. Sometimes when a person faints next to you, you do not know what to do; but in reality, it is a very simple procedure where by you just lift the feet up and it is enough to sober up the person. Sometimes, exactly when you do not know what to do, such films or books arrive to offer help. At that moment, they can prove to be life saviors.
4. What is the difference between acting in a film you have written the script and a film where you have not?
When you write the script, you tend to think of the slightest detail. What’s more, you know not only your own character but all the others too. In a scenario written by somebody else, nobody would spare so much time to you. You would have time only to work on your own character. If you think of all the moves all the other chess pieces can make while playing chess, you would end up playing a better move.
- What is the difference of this film from all the others you’ve made?
This film has been worked on for years and carried a heavy responsibility with it. It had big risks. It was going to cover the budget only if 500,000 people came to see it. Unfortunately, it didn’t reach even 50,000.
- How easy or difficult is it to direct a person you live with?
Aydın Bulut’s job is to direct. He is everyone’s director on the set. Whatever he says goes.
- Have you, as an actor, ever thought of directing? Have you, as a director, ever thought of acting?
I, as an actor, have never thought of directing, even though my training included it. Aydın Bulut, on the other hand, is refusing to act, even though we insists all the time J .
